The crisp evenings are ushering us quickly into Fall, but not too fast, as this month is still full of markets for you to attend! Join Susanville Farmers Market for our final Night Market of the 2023 season next Wednesday, September 20th from 5pm - 8:30pm at the Pancera Plaza (50 S. Gay Street, Susanville). We're talking fresh, locally grown produce, fresh baked goods, locally raised meats, artisans, food vendors, beer booth, glow sticks, live DJ, and more! We are all about supporting local over here. With 3 more Saturday markets and our last Wednesday Night Market of the season, you still have plenty of time to shop local this month, until you can catch vendors at Lassen Land & Trails Trust 's Rails to Trails Festival on Saturday, October 7th.

“Fall” into the season with at Lassen Library for crafts, science, and more! Bring your kids for leaf and apple themed crafts and a STEAM demonstration. Saturday, September 23 ^rd , from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Lassen Library (1618 Main Street, Susanville). Crafts include: leaf and apple wreath, paper plate apple face, and apple pouch. Be sure to “Stick” around for a science demonstration, and don’t “Leaf” without taking both a craft and science experiment you can do at home!

The Benson’s Humble Homestead presents Lunch Time on The Farm Wednesday, September 23rd from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Produce-Vendors-Petting Zoo-BBQ. Come play with us!!! Build a burger Bar, 20 vendors, petting pens, and maybe some cornhole. $25/Booth.

Lassen High School Cheerleaders presents Little Grizzlies Cheer Clinic on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 9:00am to 3:00pm in the Lassen High School Big Gym. Registrations will be Saturday morning from 8:30am to 9:00am. Camp will start right at 9:00am. $40 per child (Camp includes Camp T-Shirt, Bow, & Snack). Please have your camper wear a loose-fitting T-shirt, shorts, or warm up pants (no jeans), & tennis shoes. Please have hair pulled out of face. NO GUM and please, NO JEWELRY. Campers that attend will learn to Stretch, Jump, Stunt, & a few Chants. They will also learn a Cheer and a Dance that they will be performing. Campers will receive their T-Shirt & Bow on the day they perform. Participants will be performing at the Lassen High School Homecoming Jr. Varsity Football Half-Time Game on Friday, September 29 ^th . Applications are available. Lassen Sportsmen’s Club presents the 2023 Junior Fishing Derby and says the Fishing Durby is still on for September 30th. I hope all the members and the volunteers who will be in town that day will be able to come out and help. If anyone has a conflict, and hasn't already told me, please let me know at your earliest convenience so I can make accommodations as necessary. Lassen Family Services presents the 6 ^th Annual CASA SUPERHERO 5K! We’re so excited to see everyone at our 6th annual CASA Superhero Fun Run and Walk! The Susanville Assembly of God Church is holding a Vendor Fair and Flea Market September 30th to help the church raise funds for a new boiler. The fundraiser will be held from 9:00a.m. until 2:00p.m. at the church, 473-465 Richmond Road and $10,000 is needed for the boiler. The Assembly of God is looking for indoor and outdoor vendors. On August 11, Lassen Community College is excited to welcome the acclaimed band, Boot Juice. The college invites the community to this musical performance, which starts at 5:00 PM, immediately following the new student workshops as part of our Student Onboarding Day. Boot Juice is a seven-piece band that has been stirring up the West Coast music scene since 2016 with electrifying original sets that blend rock, blues, bluegrass, folk, and country genres. In addition to the performance by Boot Juice, the event will feature a free barbecue to welcome new and returning students to the LCC campus. All students registered for Fall classes are eligible for a free BBQ dinner. Lassen College will also host food vendors, Riots, Areli's Taco Taquiza, and Kona-Ice. To engage the community further, various campus departments, local agencies and organizations will set up booths to familiarize students and attendees with available resources. This event is free and open to the community.

The Best of Doyle Days, Saturday August 12th from 10:00am-8:00pm at Dixon Park in Downtown Doyle. Featuring: 40' Extreme Rush Obstacle Course - Bounce House for up to 5 years old - and Tag Arena with Light System. World famous lizard races at High Noon, Street Dance featuring Live band “sideFX” 6pm-10pm, Face painter, balloon twister and lizard petting zoo, Magician and kid games, Gunslingers, Crafts, and food vendors. One of Susanville’s best-loved traditions, the annual Lassen Sportsmens Club Junior Fishing Derby is scheduled to be held May 20th, and kids aged 2 to 15 are invited to come enjoy a beautiful morning of fishing. The busy morning starts at 5:00 with free registration and check-in at the park. Don’t forget to dress warmly because mornings are still chilly along the river this time of year. Registration and check-in end at 9:00a.m. Derby prizes will be awarded after the 3:00p.m. close of the event, and winners don’t need to be present to win. Kids shooting for the ‘largest fish’ prizes should be off the river by 2:45p.m. and must be in line for weigh-in by 3:00p.m to qualify. Door prizes will be drawn at the same time and for these winners must be present. The first three-hundred young anglers to register will receive a souvenir derby hat courtesy of Guess Plumbing. From 5:30 to 8:30 free breakfast for all kids, sponsored by WalMart and the employees of WalMart. From 10:30 to 1:00p.m., free lunch will be provided for all kids, sponsored by Frosty Mill; Susanville Supermarket; Alpine Beverage; Grocery Outlet; Burger King; Diamond Mountain Mini-Mart. Susanville Fire Department will mark the 21st anniversary of the World Trade Center Tragedy. Susanville City Fire Chef James Moore is inviting the public to join the department in a commemoration of the firefighters, paramedics, police officers and other innocent victims whose lives were ended by the tragic terrorist attach of September 11th, 2001. The Susanville Fire Department is joining with remembrance being held all across the country of September 11th. Just before 7am the group will assemble in from of the fire hall’s flagpole, the Honor Guard will present the colors and there ill be a moment of silence and a pray.er the Ceremony will begin promptly at 7:05am.
